A brief introduction

Thank you for picking up this book fellow knowledge seeker! Weather you are a young filly wanting to get an early start on honing her particular talents, or even an older pony who is looking to enhance their own, or maybe you are a non-unicorn who is looking to understand just what unicorn magic really is. Whatever the case i welcome you fellow scholar and hope you find the following chapters helpful informative and easy to grasp.

Why I decided to write this book

As one who has always been proficient in the arcane arts I at first found it hard to explain simply how magics worked, as one who had been using magic since I was but a filly it soon dawned on me how difficult it must be for those struggling or even those non-unicorns who wished to expand their knowledge on the subject. Oh how silly I felt as a veteran of the magic arts unable to explain just what it is we unicorns do! But after long hard soul searching and many re-writes I found the words that adiquetly[sic.] describe the "voodoo" that we do. (A little magic joke)

The many forms of the magical arts

Here I plan to explain the many different forms of magic so that you the reader can understand the varying forms of arcana and what each entails. Later on I will go deeper into each and if you find any particularly interesting you might feel inclined to pick up my other texts that focus more on those. You can find them wherever fine books are sold. Be sure to pick up all of them, a pony has to eat you know! Lets begin with the five main categorys of magical expertise with a short explanation for each.

Crafting
the art of crafting can range from carpentry to dress making to stone working. This type of magic is indicative of the more artistically inclined unicorns, usually those with this talent have a better understanding of colors,shape,texture, and style not to say non-unicorns dont have style!

Illusion
Illusion magics concern those who specialize in creating that which seems real but in truth is not. They can distort the senses of other ponies they can alter the information our brains recive causing us to seehear or feel what isn't there. Though that may sound devious rest assured its has helped many a pony, and only rarly is used for mischief. The three main forms of of illusiory magics are Optical,Auditory,and Tactile. 22- 0

elemental
This magic focuses on the raw power of the elements such as fire,wind,water and earth.It can be hard to gain control of as a filly but with practice one can learn to control anything from raging typhoons to forest fires, being inclined to focus on nature they are prone to find their heart lies in aiding ponies in danger or lost in the wilderness. Alteration
From turning stones into chimera into a cat! this magic bends the physicall world to his or her whims. These arcane alterations are sometimes brief and sometimes permenant but normally a good thing. for more information check page 47
